Dizziness or a spinning sensation can occur during menopause. Hormonal roller coasters can disrupt blood circulation and lower blood pressure.
Why do I feel dizzy during menopause?
Fluctuations in estrogen and progesterone can affect blood pressure and circulation. When estrogen drops, blood-flow regulation becomes unstable, which can cause a spinning sensation.
Hot flashes and night sweats can also worsen dizziness by disrupting body temperature.
What you might feel
- Tired upon waking, even after a full night’s sleep
- No desire for anything, not even activities you used to enjoy
- Crying easily, or on the contrary, feeling nothing at all
- Dark thoughts, guilt, self-devaluation
What to do if you experience dizziness during menopause
- Don’t rush: stand up slowly to avoid sudden drops in blood pressure
- Eat a balanced diet to support circulation
- Walk or practice gentle yoga: movement helps restore balance
- Breathe, meditate: less stress = less dizziness
Emotional support and guidance
- Call a friend or join a women’s circle
- Therapy is also mental hygiene — some approaches can truly help you out of the fog
- Schedule one pleasurable activity per week in your calendar — not “when you have time,” but “because you need it”
- Write down three small daily joys (a song, a scent, a ray of sunshine): training yourself to notice what feels good helps your brain spot them more easily
A few other useful avenues
- Ask for a vitamin-D blood test — deficiency is common in this period and linked to depression; correct it with your doctor
- Try light therapy, especially in autumn/winter — it stimulates serotonin production
- Explore targeted herbal therapy — saffron (standardized in crocin), rhodiola, or griffonia can support mood
Do you recognize yourself?
You are not alone. Every woman experiences menopause in her own way. With a bit of listening and support, you’ll find what makes you feel good.
