Heart Racing

Chantal Van der Brempt

During menopause, your heart can start racing without warning. It’s that strange feeling when your heart beats faster, harder, or irregularly. Sometimes you can even feel it pounding in your chest. And often… it’s unsettling.

But why now?

Hormones — yes, them again! When estrogen and progesterone levels fluctuate, it can affect:

  • Blood circulation
  • The nervous system
  • Heart rhythm
Result: your heart can start racing, even for no apparent reason.

Is it serious?

Most of the time, no. These palpitations are harmless. But they can feel intense… and frightening. And guess what? Anxiety can make them worse 😅

Helpful tips to relieve it:
Some habits can help your heart find its calm:

  • Avoid stimulants: coffee, alcohol, cigarettes
  • Get enough sleep
  • Eat a balanced diet
  • Move a little every day
  • Breathe, meditate, relax ( heart coherence works well)
Your heart loves it when you offer it a little gentleness. Oh yes 😌❤️

When to seek medical advice?
If palpitations are:

  • Frequent
  • Very strong
  • Accompanied by other symptoms (pain, shortness of breath, dizziness…)
It’s best to have it checked.

Do you recognize yourself?

You are not alone. During menopause, even your heart can act up. Often, it’s nothing serious… but it’s worth paying attention to. A little less stress, a little more naps…
